The Golden Slipper:if the shoe fits.... 8th April 06

Saturday the 8th saw us off to the 50th running of the Golden Slipper at Rosehill Gardens. For those who don't know this is a horse race and a great excuse for the ladies to get all done up in their fancy, and at times provocative dresses, and of course there is the much thought over hat. Its all about the hat. The main reason we went was because Simon and his wife Betty were down with their family, and Christine has never experienced the high dramas and fashion of race day. The weather of late has been magic and it didn't dissapoint on that day. Christine and I had no idea of what was running and what to bet on but we just followed Simon's lead and found ourselves with a small winning which was, in true gambling fashion, re-invested back into the majestic beauties.
Tickets: $60
Drinks/Food: $100
Winnings:$35
Screaming your lungs out at a horse with thousands of others: PRICELESS!!!
