Its been so long

Hey websters(is that geeky?)

Long time no speak.

Well the last two and half months hasn't really harvested any exciting news.

I was busy like silly for the month of Jan. with all the after xmas sales and back to school(BTS as us shoe people in the industry call it) promo's, it was stupid. Everyone else is on holidays and its my busiest time of year. Retail bites it, hard.

We did however get to see our first game of international cricket at the Sydney Cricket Ground(SCG). Australia V England, who we had completely dominated for the whole summer until we went and saw them play... we got pumped, lost Andrew Symonds to injury, and to top it off both Christine and I got severly sunburnt. It was a scorcher and we were looking directly into sun all afternoon. The sun didn't seem to move for three hours!! But hey thats cricket in Australia. So by the time the night came with its cooling brilliance many of the punters got their wind back in their sails and began to get a little restless. Which, may I add, is a good effort seeing as they only serve light beer and mid strength pre-mixed spirits in the main areas. Hip flasks are the key i have worked out.. So by the time the game was all but lost, the competition for which section had the biggest beer snake was well and truly under way. This involves getting all your empty beer cups and linking them together and holding them proudy above your head in a show of true manly accomplishment. If your snake is too small, fear not, your loyal over sectioners(other people in your section) will happily throw more beer cups at you to help your plight. It is a team sport both on and off the field. These beer snakes are however frowned upon by the "crowd safety" officers, and those who initiate the snake are ousted from the ground. Not before you are cheered and reveered as a true legend of the game. Well at least you leave before the other 40,000 peeps!!

Also the mexican wave is also banned!! How does one police such a thing? The whole stadium gets involved, the only people left would be the old members,(who don't often participate, and subsequently get booed by the rest of the crowd when the wave washes over them) and people with broken arms....

Bad things about the cricket:
*no beer snakes
*no mexican wave
*LIGHT beer (not as in calories but in alcoholic content..made for those who really enjoying going to the washroom)
*no streekers!

Good things about the cricket:
*Often involves a day off work
*seeing intoxicated grown men act like children
*Spontaneous cheers for events and acts that often doesn't involve the game, i.e the beach ball game, someone making a paper plane and flying it on to the field. at true feat of sporting excellence.
*And the off chance that you may have the opportunity to take a classic catch thirteen rows back, as you soar above more feeble and younger spectators to take the catch of a life time, and finally get the national selectors to see your form.

So anyway that was our day at the cricket.

We have been in Sydney for a year now, its a little crazy to think of really. It kinda feels fast in some ways then other times you thinks its been longer.

I guess in all its been good. I think the last six months has been the toughest, with me playing cricket on saturdays and then having to work on sundays(did i mention retail bites). The season has now ended with this the first weekend i have been home for at least one day. By the end of the season i was kinda looking forward to it ending so we can spend some time together and get out there and see some of the city and state. It looks as though we will have the easter weekend off again, so hopefully we can get away and chill out for a few days. We have been invited to a wedding of my friends Paul and Bonnie who are getting married easter weekend. It is unfortunate that we will be unable to attend. The cost to fly home on that weekend is ridiculous. It would be about $1500 for the two of us. And it was a pretty quick turn around from proposal to wedding date, due to Pauls work and some other factors. So we have had no time to budget for it. It would be a great weekend to go home and see some of friends, but the main aim is to get back to Canada so Christine can catch up with her loved ones. It will be good to get back to CehNehDeh.. it still makes me laugh..oh well thats just me..
Alright kids keep it real and we will try and get more posts up here, which will be good because it would mean we have been out and about(i left that alone, one canadian joke is my limit). As usual please leave a comment, it makes us feel good, but no comments about my poor spelling, writing skills etc...please..peace
